In 2009, I jumped into the unknown: I moved from my home country Italy to Belgium, all for love. Together with Lies, who is now my wife, I built a nice life here. I learned Dutch, built a completely new circle of friends and eventually found a great job at TVH.
Today, I love living in Belgium, but the first few years were a big adjustment. At the time, we had exceptionally cold winters and for a moment I thought I wouldn't be able to settle in. Integrating into a country where you don't know anyone is not easy. Fortunately, I don't give up easily. And of course, my wife helped me out a lot. TVH also made a great difference in my integration: I met so many nice people.
I'm a sports freak, so I quickly joined various clubs. Not only do I go to work by bike every day, but I'm also a proud member of bicycle club 'WiW Vichte', associated with Cycling Flanders. I also like to go jogging, especially when it's raining because that brings me closer to nature and further away from everyday stress. By participating in running competitions, I'm able to work towards a goal. And I need that.
Two other great passions of mine are photography and astronomy. One day, I would like to combine both; it must be amazing to photograph stars and planets! When the weather is nice, we go observing with the astronomy club and then we share our newest findings. My kids are very interested as well. You should see the looks on their faces when I tell them about the planets! At home, they have astronaut costumes and cardboard rockets. Because someday, they want to travel to the moon. Isn't that amazing?
