Ine Laleman, Product Owner - Waregem
2018 was a special year for me because I married my Prince Charming. It was the most wonderful day of my life. We wanted a traditional wedding with a princess dress, jackets with hats and gloves, unity candles, and a ceremony in a church with a choir. We created a modern version of the traditional pocket fold invitation. In the past, my husband worked as a web developer so he created our own website. The marketing person in me wanted to make the invitation very personal so there was a unique code on each invitation that our guests could enter on our website. Once they signed in, their name was displayed on the page with the program they were invited to. In Belgium, it is the tradition to invite everybody to the wedding ceremony. Afterwards, acquaintances are invited to the reception, and family and friends are invited to the dinner.
Also on the website, we displayed the route from the guests' home to our wedding venue. For the guests that live a bit further away, we selected and proposed places where they could stay the night. The guests could also confirm their attendance on the website where we auto-filled their names. They could also let us know if we should take into account special wishes for dinner. After confirming their attendance, we sent out a personal email with a 'looking forward' message to guests that would attend our wedding and a 'you will be missed' message for those who could not be there. They could also enter their favorite song to dance to and I can guarantee you, the dance floor was never empty. We enjoyed every minute of our wedding and often look back at our wedding pictures.
As for a little bit more about myself, I grew up near the Belgian coast. It's a place where I spend a lot of time with my family and friends. Nothing can beat the joy of the sun, a little breeze, the sound of the waves, the infinite view, and the sunset. It is no surprise that my favorite place to spend my holiday is a place by the sea.
I always wondered if the world was different on the other side of the ocean. TVH gave me the opportunity to travel there and find out. As a Product Owner, it is important to align and agree on priorities with all the stakeholders worldwide. I learned that with good teamwork and transparency, wonderful things can be achieved together from each side of the ocean.
