Before starting a family, my husband (then boyfriend) and I wanted to go on a big trip together. We thought that once you have kids, it becomes super difficult to travel with them to faraway countries. A road trip to the West Coast of the United States was one of the things that was on our bucket list, next to swimming with dolphins.
With lots of planning, we decided that we would do a two week-long road trip to the West Coast. We started our trip off in Los Angeles, where we loaded up our rental car and headed off to our first stop in Death Valley National Park. I think that it is the hottest place I have ever been to. After that, our trip carried us all along the coast. We went to places like: Las Vegas, Page, Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and San Diego. One of our favorite places to see was Monument Valley. Being from Belgium, we typically do not see nature to that extent, and it was so beautiful. My husband and I also discovered one of our favorite foods while in Santa Monica, cheesecake. Ever since we had it there for the first time, we are always making it at home. We also stayed in the MGM in Las Vegas for two days while we explored the city and culture. Our trip ended after 15 days back in Los Angeles, right where we started it at.
For us, this was a truly memorable trip as we enjoyed and loved every aspect of it. During that trip, we fell in love with the country! We definitely want to come back to explore another side of the USA, and we highly recommend a West Coast road trip to everyone! While waiting for our next chance to travel, we have started a family, and have two kids, Léon and Rosalie, who are 7 and 4.5 years old.
