Nelin, Assessor de Vendas Internas da Europa Central - Waregem
I lived in Bulgaria until my family moved to Belgium in 2013. In my country of origin, it is expected from school-leavers that they immediately go to university. But, I still had to learn the language, so I followed some very intense Dutch language courses. Afterwards, I registered for a course in Slavonic studies at the University of Ghent, but I couldn't combine it with my job at the time.
When I heard that TVH was looking for someone who was fluent in Bulgarian, I immediately applied. I was only 22 years old and I could never have hoped to start working for a company like TVH at that age. I took all tests and had some great interviews, but in the end they decided to give the job to someone who already worked for TVH. But, I believe in destiny, so I didn't give up hope. Looking back, I wasn't quite ready to carry out that job in 2016. I needed more time to gain work experience and to mature a bit more, in order to be ready for the job I have now.
Some time later, TVH's HR department gave me another call. They asked me to come in for another interview. I left for the appointment feeling super happy. I had put my phone on airplane mode, so that it definitely wouldn't ring during the job interview. But, that way I also missed the call from HR to inform me that the Team leader - who really wanted to be present for the interview - was sick. Bad luck, again!
… But you know what they say: third time's the charm. And that really is my outlook on life: you can't run away from your destiny. Everybody has a goal in life, and if something is meant for you, sooner or later it will cross your path.
When I heard that I got the job although there were two other great candidates, I was very relieved! I've been working as an Internal Sales Advisor for the Central Europe region for about two years now, and I feel right at home here. I can only confirm what I was already convinced of: if it’s meant to be, it will be.
