Rafael, Outside Sales - Monterrey, Mexico
Working at TVH is a dream come true. I have been working in the forklift and material-handling world for 16 years, but I have only worked at TVH for four. Every company I have worked for in the past, bought parts from TVH, so naturally, the company sparked some curiosity for me. After a few years, I saw an opening at TVH, applied and I was hired. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity.
I love to travel and learn about different cultures. A trip that I will never forget is when I traveled to Taiwan. I visited two very different cities, Taipei and Sun Moon Lake. Taipei is a modern metropolis with busy shopping streets and contemporary buildings. The city is filled with skyscrapers and upscale shops and is known for its lively street-food scene and many night markets. On the other hand, Sun Moon Lake, although touristy, provides that peace and quiet your body seeks while you're on holiday. It has some of the best bike paths in the world and it is surrounded by the western foothills of the central Mountain Range. Standing in this is city is like standing in a beautiful painting. They were beautiful places that will remain in my memory forever. When I’m not traveling, I like to support my favorite teams: Tigres AUNL (soccer), Houston Astros (baseball) and the Chicago Bears (American football). I have always been a sports fan and one of my favorite sports to participate in when I was younger was fishing. As a kid, I used fish in the Gulf of Mexico with my dad. We fished for corvina, trout, drum fish, etc. Practicing this sport was important to me because it was very important to my dad.
I recently picked up a new hobby that is not a sport, but takes the same kind of dedication. I really like Mexican regional music, and 4 years ago, I started playing the accordion. This instrument is very important in this genre. Mexican regional music originated in the north part of Mexico. It runs through my veins. I was born on the border in Matamoros, Tamaulipas and I now live in Monterrey, Nuevo León with my family. I have been married for 18 years and we have three sons ages 17, 14, and 6. We love to travel together and when we’re not traveling, we’re seeing new places and new things on a big screen at the movies!
